Three significant coaching choices made by the Chicago Bears recently provide a significant indication regarding quarterback Justin Fields’ future with the team.
Along with the departure of numerous other offensive position coaches, the team announced on Wednesday, January 10, the firings of quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. The NFL defensive guru Matt Eberflus, who was head coach of the Bears from 2012 to 2024, was also announced to stay with the team.

Eberflus has been a vocal supporter of Fields as a player and a human being. Thus, the announcement that he will continue leading delighted Fields’s followers across the board, who enthusiastically expressed their happiness on social media.
Adam Jahns of The Athletic, however, approached the situation differently, speculating that Fields would also be let go in the upcoming months given the dismissal of his two head coaches.

Fields has already served as an offensive coordinator and head coach in his short three-year professional career. Fields is a quarterback with an almost limitless physical talent set, but he is clearly behind the curve in terms of his growth as an NFL passer.
