The Carolina Panthers dropped their 14th game of the year, guaranteeing the Bears the top overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Chicago received wide receiver DJ Moore, their first-round pick this year and their second-round selection in 2025, in exchange for Carolina’s No. 1 pick from last year.
Now, general manager Ryan Poles must make a crucial, perhaps franchise-changing choice this offseason: sell the pick once more (and receive a big haul) and centre the team on Justin Fields, or choose a quarterback, such as anticipated number one pick Caleb Williams.
Williams is regarded as a “generational talent,” but Fields has apparently made the Bears brass’s selection difficult. Fields performed brilliantly and presented his case for keeping the position as QB1 in 2024 in what may have been his final home game with the Chicago Bears.
Fans of the Bears already have an opinion on what Poles should do with the first selection, as you might expect.
