The Detroit Lions declared that they have dismissed FB Jason Cabinda and added K Michael Badgley from the practice squad to the active roster.
Detroit also released DL Chris Smith and added offensive lineman Michael Schofield to their practice squad.
After signing with the Colts in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami, Badgley, 28, was dismissed by Indianapolis prior to the start of the season.
In October 2018, Badgley signed a contract with the Chargers, where he played as the starting kicker for the following three seasons. After receiving a qualifying offer from Los Angeles, Badgley re-signed with the organization for a $1.1 million, one-year contract.
Before joining the Lions in October of last year, he played for the Titans, Colts, and Bears after that. He was re-signed by Detroit for a one-year contract for the 2023 campaign, but was cut in July after he made the Commanders.
After being released by Washington, Badgley briefly played with the Titans before getting cut again and signing with the Lions.
Badgley has played for the Lions in two games in 2023. He has made nine of ten attempts at extra points and converted his lone field goal attempt.
