Sherrone Moore, Michigan’s offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, has worked hard to restock the pantry with great offensive lineman, including a true centre this cycle. The Wolverines focused their efforts on 2024 offensive lineman Jake Guarnera from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and offered him in July 2022. During his recruitment, they would bring him up to campus for various visits such as the BBQ at the Big House recruiting event, a game day, and a spring visit. In April, the 6-foot-4, 285-pounder narrowed his long-list of scholarship offers to a top five of Michigan, Penn State, Florida, Rutgers, and NC State. After a few weeks, he opted to take his talent to the Big Ten and wear the Maize and Blue for the next few years.
A quality offensive line prospect who combines technique, feel, and power. Has spent much of his prep career as a cornerback, but his body type and skill set indicate that he will likely play his best football on the inside. In the spring before his senior year, he was about 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds. He doesn’t carry much bad weight, which makes him an effective puller because he can get lateral quickly and move people out of the way. With hefty hands and a strong upper half, he consistently wins. He will also finish assignments by rolling his hips.
What makes Michigan unique?
“I feel like their vision for me as a player and the ability I’ll have to develop there, them coming off back-to-back Joe Moore Awards (awarded to college football’s best offensive line), and my relationships with the 2024 class, particularly the offensive linemen, all had a big impact on my decision.”
